WHO DO WE NEED TO TALK TO ... To get all of these girls that were laid off to come work for SCCA/NASA as Spec Miata grid girls??  We can't let these girls fall out of the workforce and create employment gaps in their work history to where they can't find another job.  We would be happy to take them.

i don't want to group all women drivers into the same bucket, because I'm sure they have a variety of opinions as well ... but every woman driver i know, thinks grid girls are stupid. and if you don't think they are paying attention to these kinds of things, again, you should talk with a few. 

we can choose to keep racing and driving fast "fun" to a dying, ever shrinking and aging demographic. or we can try to keep racing and driving fast fun for everyone. 


lets keep the show to the cars on the track and men and women that design, build, and drive them. pornhub exists for a reason, use that.

Oh come on ... are we going to get rid of NFL Cheerleaders too?  It is literally the same thing.  I am sure the % of women that "don't watch F1 because their are grid girls" is probably very small.  And then I am willing to bet that a high percentage of those women wouldn't watch F1 anyways. Taking away grid girls wont do a damn thing to have more women watch the sport ... they would still have to like the racing aspect of it ...

sure, cheer-leading in the NFL is stupid. the entire "this is a cool thing, and when we add beautiful women it gets even better!" notion is just ... done. its from a bygone age. women as decoration is dying, and it really should die if we are being honest. 

i don't speak for all women in motorsports. i just know i've talked to some around my age (30), couple of local drivers, used to be local drivers etc ... they get into racing in-spite of the perception of women as decoration, not because of it. we should be encouraging women as drivers, engineers, and participants, not as decoration.

I'm confused... is it "racing time" when you are 1 of 100 plus very average female race car drivers who takes very similar pictures trying to sell their sex appeal or is that time for porn hub?

really, the upside to keeping them is creepy and weird, the downside is maybe more women will be more empowered to actually participate. its pretty simple.

I'm just thinking when Patrick "Dr. Dreamy" Dempsey was racing, he had hour long lines of women at the race track ogling him and wanting autographs. I guess the only effective solution is to banish attractive people from the planet.

When my wife raced in Spec Miata I'd estimate that about 90% of her male fellow competitors considered her gender a non-issue. Of that 90% a large percent were very encouraging. But then there was the 10% who felt she didn't belong and were not shy in letting their feelings be known. Those 10% are the individuals that stand out in her memory and partially contributed to her decision to stop competing.

I find this whole debate silly...because no matter what industry is the current target...those in favor of eliminating women from a position of objectification are talking out both sides of their mouth. Here you have a young man who is arguing one side of the debate by telling us to view women in and industry which i'm sure there is no exploitation and is as clean as the driven snow when it comes to women?? Can you say irony?

Human nature is what it is...marketers have been selling attraction since day one. If the principles of an industry decide to eliminate some jobs because they have an image to uphold(or they are caving to a very SMALL % of loud mouths)...so be it. But dont argue that this is a step forward for women! Attractive men and women and the attraction between men and women is what keeps the world turning! Lets keep the children safe and let adults choose their own path.
