I'm pretty sure I've just sealed my fate, since I'm racing for the first time in two years, at Hallett this weekend. But, there will be no video evidence---cameras fail at the strangest of times.

Crashing a race car and crashing the pace car on out lap are two different things lol.

I did find that humorous.
1. Outlap track conditions on raceday for the main event? Er, so clean. I mean, I'd hope the track was pretty well prepped by raceday
2. Weather? Sure looked sunny. and, dry.
Ok, so clean, dry track, and sunny warm (June) conditions.

Did he need, or was he trying to, over take that race car ahead of him ?
You see those white Camaro's farther up leading, I assume not following.

Well, cold tires. I have to admit to having looped a car with 20% of the corvette's power on a first lap under similar conditions.

Well sure...who hasn't been caught out by cold tires? I'd have bought that in a heartbeat.
But, the press release didn't mention that (unless you lump that in with "other factors")...just "weather", and "track conditions". Neither of which appear to have been problematic...and honestly seem to have been close to "ideal".
I wonder if Mr. Ruess had any input into the press-release, or if some junior PR person put it out without thinking (or knowing better). As a driver, I'd pick on that bump, the slow car in front, the cold tires, a or a bug in my eye. Rule #1 of driver's excuses is to pick something that can't be refuted---it doesn't have to be true.

A HP driver once found himself in the lead of the last lap of the Runoffs with an obviously non compliant car. So, on the back straight, he just pulled over and nearly stopped letting a portion of the field pass. When questioned about it post race, he, with a big grin on his face, said that a bee got under his visor and he stopped to get it out.
Had I had the lead on the last lap of the Runoffs, I would have eaten that bee!
And no doubt some junior PR guys was covering the boss who no doubt ran out of talent. Very few people watching realize how fast cars are really going on race tracks because everyone is moving at about the same speed.
Wonder who will end up buying that car?

the guy made a mistake and crashed.. So have all of us at one point I dont see the need for all of the apologies and shame he seems to be feeling.. It happens. Not like he is bill Cosby or Harvey Weinstein. i'm sure Sm doesn't give a s%$^ and he has gotten more publicity over that deal for GM than the entire season as pace car.
That was the lowest cost crash of the weekend. I would criticize the guy but then that would be hypocritical

I think the Corvette drive must have gotten on to mazdaracers.com and watched as some two time champion looped it on the outlap at Sebring and I think he was quoted as saying "So easy a Dargo could do it!"
Nice of you to empathize with the poor soul bahahahahaha...

She gets a pass, They don't allow grid girls anymore... They had to squeeze some good looking women in somewhere.. Surely you cant expect them to count that high, you cant have everything

No one should be surprised that the flag guy wasn't paying attention to the lap number...

So you're saying it's her fault either way.
