Here is a view from the cheap seats You get to see lots of cars at least Nick Sommers was spun as well and I picked him up and we made pretty good time coming through.
I think I went back somewhere in the mid 50's and came back to finish P11.

Wow at 5:56 into that first video the yellow and black car taps Jim shoots across the track using another car for a berm then blasts across the grass before ending up facing the wrong way in the middle of the track he must have nine lives

Fantastic drives, congrats to Chris Todd and Danny, watched the vid some fun to watch racing. Should be a good promo film to get folks interested in racing SM.

Danny,
Thank you for posting the video. Words could never describe the quality or the intensity of that race up front. Much respect for Todd Buras and his persistent Alonso-esque attacks.and to Chris for the ability and tenacity to hold him off. Close and tight but respect was both given and earned with regards to racing room. A great exhibition of what Spec Miata racing is all about.
Here is the race video for those that aren't on social media - I had the best seat in the house for the last 3 laps for sure!

Some great action! That start was nuts...the lockup smoke in front of you before the green flag was classic. Would that be considered a bump draft at the end of the front straight?
Great recovery after the spin! The hook up with Nick and passing 7 cars on the back straight(5 in the brake zone) was impressive!
Nick getting collected on the front straight sucked!
Curious why the 4th to 3rd to 4th shift at 19 when you were on the rev limiter instantly?
I got tired watching...cant imagine how you guys felt!

We had such a great time meeting everyone. What a great experience for a 15 year old TMC driver- he really had a blast, even though his 1.6 was not exactly the most competitive car.

Well done! Next time.... 6200 RPM 3rd gear to give himself a chance on the start....
Holy crap! I’ll get around to the rest of it but I had to switch to a much bigger screen and watch that start a few dozen times to catch all the action. It looks like Jeu hit you twice before you went around but I couldn’t tell if he just got loose over the cubs or had some help. Whatever, there was a lot of quick reflex and luck by many to avoid a major mess and extended yellow.
FWIW, I didn't post to try and place blame.. IMO, Stephen was in my blind spot as I moved toward the curb he was moving on to the track as there was only grass to his right moving forward. More than likely he was put out there by someone else. The first touch was nothing, stephen lifted and/or braked NOT to get into me and then was tapped and spun into me. I look at this as both being a bit of victim of circumstances. Trying to squeeze 65 cars into a few corners. Stephen found me immediately after the race and apologized, it was appreciated but I don't think he really owed me one. It certainly didn't help him either and he came out worse than me. The blame starts with me and qualifying, had I done my job there, I would have never been in that position.

Congrats to Chris, Todd, and Danny on their podium finishes! Very hard fought and clean battle up front; Looked like a blast. Interesting to watch the line choice and shift point differences between Drago and Steyn, both driving NB2's.
Mathew, fantastic drive this weekend! Rocky Mtn. region may be small, but there are some very fast drivers with yourself, Williams, and Voigt all running strong inside the top 10 throughout the TOYO Classic weekend.

anyone ever mention your son's driving position isn't very good? he is awful far away from the wheel/arms...

I'm trying to figure out a way that he could of set himself up better for the green drop, but I can't come up with anything. Maybe dive left immediately so Danny had to push him lol.

The 1.6 has more RPM, less TQ. He needed to run the torquier 1.8's out of the band, and force them to shift first. then he could have potentially slotted in front of one the cars for when he shifted and enjoyed a push up the hill. With the super slow second gear start he was doomed from the drop of the flag.... the cars with more grunt just drove right around him.

The problem was that you did not wear your new helmet....that is why you did not qualify well.

What the heck, here's the another view. Started P31, finished P15. Start is worth watching. Something that resembles racing ~20:45 (17 Downey, 7 Newmark, 29 Berry, 14 Porter) until I get collected on the front-straight ~25:20 mark.

Clean start and nice race!
