Unlike Kyle, I much prefer chasing a championship to winning a prestigious event. Don't get me wrong, I am proud of my June Sprints and ARRC wins, but I covet a championship more because to win a championship you have to be consistent. You can overcome a bad luck situation during a championship, but in a single runoffs style event, hit bad luck and you are done.
I am very much in favor of a more prestigious points series. I have always disliked the national points title award as it can be won by winning and less competitive and less well attended events. So I am in favor of the points override based on how many cars you beat, reinforcing that a win at a 60 car race is more valuable than a win at a 12 car race.
It MUST be held at bucket list tracks. As we have seen, car counts are always better at the bucket list tracks.
I agree, I have won the Runoffs twice and points title twice. The points titles were always an after thought more than a goal. I dont look at them nearly the same as the Runoffs wins. A "real" season long championship like we outlined above would be quite an accomplishment for the eventual winner IMO. I dont think you would have to worry about car counts at the events we put up as examples as there is always plenty of competition at those tracks. It would be nice if we got to the point where the Runoffs was like Daytona in Nascar or Indy 500 in Indy car. Right now, the runoffs is the only race that really matters to me.
