Good job by Drago...I think y'all are being a little optimistic. I'd venture to say your winner is coming from the top 3 today (pre-scales).
Full disclosure: SMAC chairman, my opinions do not reflect anything to do with the SMAC unless specifically stated.

Weather is changing by the minute. Forecasts are changing by the 1/2 hour. Lots of surprises still ahead.
Charbonneau, Coello and someone else ??? pulled into tech for underweight in Q2. Not sure of the outcome.
Top 6 engines were sealed - ie components were painted including
- intake
- Exhaust
- head
- ECU
- throttle body
- etc.

What would be the point since changing these parts is not illegal and does not void any qualification times? What are they saying the penalty would be for changing out a "sealed" part and on what grounds?

Lose your qualifying time. Stops the guys running cheater parts in Qually and then switching to legal parts for the race!
I understand the objective, but question the enforcment if challenged by a competitor to the court. Or at least they should allow inspection of the changed part for compliance if an entrant needs to make a change and not lose their times.
Personally, they should just have pulled the manifolds, TB, ECU, etc in tech for compliance in my opinion. It's the big show, two years ago I spent over 2 hours in tech after qualifying. It's part of the deal, bring your tools.
BTW Danny, good luck at the show and thanks for the updates from the track.

James
This is correct. Anything can be changed, but if canged it needs to be chamged in tech and what you took off is inspected. You only lose times if the parts are non compliant or if the seals have been tampered with.

What is it this year? $7-8/gal track fuel?

#32

What was fuel rule last year? Anything goes?
What is it this year? $7-8/gal track fuel?
Rule is same as last year. Track fuel, 93 octane no lead oxygenated, is required. Last year the rate was about $5/gal if I remember.
After the Sprints backlash, I hope they didn't attempt a $7+/gal charge for this year's Runoffs.

The times are quicker today, weather was cooler and the track more rubber. The top ten remains pretty consistent with some small shuffling and a couple of new faces in. The "new Boss" holds onto the top spot again today.

I predict the podium is exactly like qualifying. Can we just skip the rest of this tire torture test and award the trophies already?

The fuel pricing is very fair and they are still making a reasonable margin over local fuel prices. Much better than the $prints.
Thanks to Danny Steyn for showing the West Siiiiiiide some love yesterday!
