Do miatas have sound deadening painted on the floor surfaces like other cars ? Was considering doing the dryice trick if so as done previously with other (rally) cars. I'll be gutting interior for the cage install anyway and it's much nicer welding/drilling without that junk and safer also.. No bonfires.



They do have an undercoat and under recent (more or less) rule changes it's permissible to remove it. The interior is mostly painted steel after you gut it. As you've seen, you'll need to at least remove the undercoat from any place you weld, it will start a fire. I'm just finishing the rear of mine after finishing the front.
