Where is Team Evans Racing ??
Craig had some engine issues and packed it up and went home...
OK -What happened to Kyle Loustaunau was in Ron's #40 Fri. now ????
Team Nitro- Greg & Nitro Nick Sommers
Weird... no one seems to be paying attention here. I dont know any of the people here except Drennan! Seems like a lot of west coast front runners did not show up.
Congrats to Mark on the runs so far! I hope you get the trophy!

Big Congrats to Kyle !!!
Ron's car and Mike Haags engine did it.
Had a great time with Rob B, John M, Todd and Cathy (thanks for the hospitality) to name a few.
Big thanks to Mike Haag power, NASA, staff and corner works, Mazda, Toyo, for all they do.
Nice job in tech John
SM and E30 both had the same upset. Drennan and Mike Shawhan (E30) both came out on top, in the qual races and came in 3rd in the big show.
Very sorry for both.
Not sure if it was gamesmanship by the others drivers or too much at the Social. But that's racing
All the best in the shoot out Kyle. Here's your chance at the big time. I'm sure you'll do great.

Wow...I figured someone would have posted up by now! So after bringing the car home in pieces I will be first!
Congratulations to Kyle Loustaunau for his win today!!! Hernan Palermo came from near the back to finish 2nd with Mark Drennan rounding out the podium!
All passed tech which included flywheel, tranny, heads along with other items including whistled, bars, air boxes as mentioned earlier. Cars were dynoed twice which did find a couple issues with 2 cars.
It was disappointing to see such a small turnout for the race. At least 5 or 6 pulled out after registering and just a lot of local talent that did not show up. SCCA at Laguna definitely got a lot of local guys committing there season to that as well as a lot of other west coast races.
More to come...

Congrats to you, Kyle and the crew. Not sure what the deal is with this race. Did not seem to get the following on or off the track that the East or Runoffs got? Arguably at the best track as well? Strange
I know how much time, energy, talent and effort these races take! Congrats, I am sure you earned it!!

Lot's of Mazda Championship Winners this weekend out there. 4 total in NASA is high being there are not a ton of classes Mazda's can run in. Congrats to all of them.
Eric Powell - PTD (also 2nd in PTE in east states championships)
Randy Evans - PTE
Jon Van Caneghem - Super Unlimited
Basically Mazda won half of the classes that mazda cars can even compete in (excluding time trials)

Thanks Jim. No doubt this event was a victim of circumstance between schedule, other high profile events, and timing of other concerns in our class. Plus outside of Mark, there were no "high profile" names to follow. I certainly have and had no aspirations of being part of the winners circle...it just has happened very good drivers have strapped into my car after my son decided to spend his free time on other endeavors. I just love the friends i have made and the social aspect that comes along with this class...the soul reason I continue to come out! Kyle L just made it REALLY exciting this weekend...in fact a little more so than my heart can handle at times!
As far as earned, well, the fact that Mark was there and Hernan, did make it feel good. Sure, it wasnt a 10 or 20 deep field but the best driver/team/car combo I have seen this year was present. Mark in my opinion has had no equal this year as far as consistency and talent. Hernan had a great car and was the fastest yesterday consistantly...starting 5-6 rows back was his fate. But you still have to run the race and Kyle showed he could hang with the best on this day and prevailed! Hats off to him!

Thanks everyone for a great weekend, I'm pretty ecstatic about a fourth place nationals finish during my first season of racing (ever), especially in a 1.6. After some timing adjustments, the car was not losing much on the straights compared to the 1.8's, and I pulled off the impossible by bump drafting Drennan after getting a run out of the carousel lol. The car had immense grip on Friday and Saturday, but didn't have the same turn in on Sunday due to mistaken tire pressures and possibly knocked out alignment. I think if the race did not end ten minutes early, Drennan and I could have caught Palermo and started battling. The low turnout created a fun atmosphere rather than a serious one, but it still retained the nationals atmosphere particularly with the commentator! Congrats to Kyle, and good luck in the shootout; that will be my goal for next year. I feel for Mark, but know he will be back in 2015 to take his due in NASA and SCCA.
The tech shed was a little intimidating for a complete rookie, and opened my eyes to what I will be required to do if I decide to upgrade my car next year. There is no way, even if I practice all winter, that I will be able to tear my car down as quickly and efficiently as everyone else did, and definitely wouldn't be able to put it back together again to drive it home. This means I have a lot to think about over the next few months, and decide on my plans for 2015. As for now, I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be a parity ruling to give 1.6's cams and flywheel, that way I can use savings on towing infrastructure instead of the infamous 1.8 upgrade. Teen Mazda Challenge is another possibility in question. Any experienced wisdom on the above is appreciated, just send me a message.
p.s. Thanks to Justin and Jimmy Casey for rescuing me with a trailer when the alternator failed on the drive home and left me stranded in Daly City...

I'm writing my summery & will post with photos in a day or two.
I'm not doing much else.
I think because of the bad wreck and all waiting in the hot pit until told to go into impound, we did not get to put the car in the winners circle as other classes did I figured that picture would look good here in the classifieds
