I wrote a long post about Friday's qualifying race and the decisions made by NASA officials. I decided not to post but I will say that if they were my employees they would be terminated for gross incompetence.
Air it out Pat...the event is over!

and I stand by that... Mark is a phenomenal driver and friend! While he certainly has my stamp of approval as one of the best, he doesn't need it. Anything I do or say here will tarnish his championship and he deserves much better! Congrats Mark Drennan!

Now that it's over I'm looking to work on some data. Anyone running 17's willing to share a Traqmate file? PM me please.
Thanks

As much as I have struggled at these events I believe their format does allow for more opportunity to win for more people. You can miss something small and lose the runoffs, here there is a chance for redemption. Even though I started 21 yesterday I feel if I kept my car under me I could have been there at the end fighting for the podium. 1st qual race was a disaster and I don't think I would have done anything differently except change my decision on taking the outside lane into turn 1. Having zero idea what grip level to expect I chose to try the rim shot rain line. Not a good idea.
Huge thank you to X-Factor Racings Chris Haldeman, nobody had a better car this weekend and that was all Chris, and crew Cricket and Squirel.
Thank you to my father for coming out and supporting me this weekend, accomplished part of what I wanted by putting the car on pole even though I never turned a lap at the track before Thursday. I am one of those racers that can be very fast but also needs seat time to develop the consistency necessary to win. This weekend was more about seat time and confidence building.
Anyone that has been with me and dad at the track has laughed and cringed at the back and forth banter. But no son could love his father more than I do and I know he is a proud father, even if his kid is 44. Reality TV needs Spec Miata. The racing is very much a small part of the weekend and entertainment. Think a combination of Orange County Choppers and Dance Moms.

This is the shit that has me moving to a different class beginning next month. The same thing happened at the 2015 NASA Western Champs at Mazda Raceway a few months ago... All the money and time to get to the track and this mess. Yes, it happens in other classes, it just seems to happen in SM more often - even at regionals. Stupid. Maybe it should be renamed SRM (Spec Red Mist).
I'm thoroughly confused by this post..... Let me start by saying I do like John, however......
Aren't you the guy who can drop the hammer with regard to penalties for this type of crap? Isn't this all under your control? The optics of the SM Dude for NASA no longer racing SM and publicly jumping ship to another class seems very bad in my opinion. One of the great things about NASA is that it seems as though it is a dictatorship and if Jerry and team decide that someone is not a good fit for their organization then they are out.... Plane and simple. John.... why wouldn't you drop the hammer with regard to penalties for the drivers causing the issues that are making you want to now run another class. I promise you after drop kicking a few bad apples, sh&% will get cleaned up very quickly.
What am I missing here?
