I wonder if they will start us on the back straight for the runoffs to avoid stuff like this !

Too many cars to start on the front straight. The starter said he wouldn't pull the flag until he was able to see all the cars into the carousel.

Agree, i am looking into it right now as to who we send our input too. Starting on the back makes sense so does the pro course. Starting the the front straight works for smaller groups but some guys never even get close to seeing a flag, so it favors guys with radios.

Going to suggest for regional races we have next year to run the exact same format as the runoffs, so if its going to be pro starting on the back, i will propose all the regional races duplicate it.

Use the SAFETY approach.  If you watch some of the videos everyone starts to worry about corner one which makes them slow down early ---then there are some that are pretty much sure they will win from the back row...

Saturday's start sucked. I didn't qualify for shiz - my fault. Second half of the field would not close-up on out lap - midpack's fault. I wasn't even to the carousel when my wife called the green for me. Probably would have been a cluster-fooey to wave it off, but it just plain sucked.

Frank, any word if the OVR will issue refunds for the cancelled enduro entry fee?

I would like to say a huge Congratulations to Evan Pecore!  He and his dad Rick picked that car up on Friday Morning before heading to the track, I had never really seen him drive but in a couple videos I found on Youtube.  He got off to a rocky start filling the tank with 12 gallons of gas to start practice  :help:  but once we got that corrected, I was able to give him really good lead follow for two sessions before I had a car problem keeping me out of the last test session.  He and I pulled up Vids so he knew what to work on for the  last session and he set out to do it.  We overlaid data after each session, and well as watched vid and discussed strategy, He was an absolute sponge, and I cant be prouder of how he raced and a NEW TRACK RECORD!!!!  Wont be long before he teaching me rather then me teaching him!  :toast:

Had a great time at the camp fire a couple nights with the  fellas always lots of ball busting!

Frank Congrats on the Sunday race win!  Justin for Saturday!

I have seen Vid of the t1 incedent that I supposedly caused LOL...  Maybe Marc Cefalo will post it up somewhere, Im sure somehow it will still be my fault that the race was started at a slow pace as well as the two guys who jumped the start from way back to stack it up in T1.

I had some really great door to door racing with Cefalo on Saturday morning, boy has he come along way at Mid Ohio, tough to pass that dude!

Hopefully everyone has a great off season, and comes back ready for 2016!

Kyle, hope your car isn't hurt too bad.  Saw it come in on the tow truck and it looked like both ends took a hit.

Some very good driving at the front of the field throughout the weekend.  Those up front earned it.

All previous Runoffs at M-O were started on the back straight as far as I recall and I'd be surprised if the organizers didn't favor that.  Yes, the pro course is a better track to race on, especially in classes like ours.  I'd even suggest that we finish on the back straight as that would add a couple late passing opportunities to every race.  In our class, the driver with the lead coming out of 5 on the last lap will be the winner unless something unusual happens or unless it's raining.

I think we all need to be worried more about qualifying here.. Outside the top 6 or so and you virtually have little to no shot at all.

I was going to start a 2016 Runoff thread but will just go with this for now. I have been told in the past we have run both the club and pro. As soon as the track records are updated, i will post current track records and the runoff records from years back. You can figure it out from that.

Agree that if we are talking equal cars, the only spots to pull off a pass, is maybe the entry to turn one if everything in the world went right for you coming out of the carousel, not likely, entry to keyhole on the pro course and the end of the back straight.

What I like about this track is that you can qualify on your own merit, draft is not an issue. its relatively safe. you can spin and win here, seen it done.

The challenge will be qualifying, when you get 50 or 60 cars its difficult to find the gap. Its possible I did it this weekend with 54 cars on track. So did Hille.

This was one of many of my problems this weekend. I didn't get up to grid for qualifying early enough and I was third from last ( my fault ). Hell some guys left there cars up at grid over night (smart).
But during qualifying on sat. some guys wouldn't get out of the way even when the corner workers were waving the flag that a faster car was coming they where driving like it was a qualifying race. Come on guys if there is a faster car coming just get out of there way. I did to a couple of guys during qualifying on sat. If these guys where smart they would have let the faster guy through and try and watch there lines. This would help them go faster instead of battling with them and slowing you both down.

Maybe they can have a two waive qualifying group !

They probably saw the pop up lights in the mirror and figured there was no way you were actually faster!   :cheering:

Tom...what do you hit at about the 13/14 second mark? Or is it another car that stays out of the video?

It looks like it may have been the edge of the road surface for the short course layout. If it was, hate to think what could have happened if he caught it while he was parallel to it.

It was the crossover road. It bent my right-rear wheel and caused 1/2" toe in. And yes, I was fortunate I did not hit it at an angle and speed to cause a rollover.

The contact on the left with the 99 car, the contact on the right with the tires, the big hop from the crossover road -- none of it good but each could have been so much worse.

Been involved in big crashes before twice on the back straight of Mid ohio, never been spun in front of so many cars like this at 100 mph, scarey watching, glad in real time it happened to faast in the car for me think about it.  My new car should be ready end of next week, even though my loss was probably the worst I genuinily feel for all those who bounced off me and have work ahead of them to fix which takes resources from your racing budgets.

I guess the original thought after getting turned on t1 of abandoning the race, maybe i need to listen to still small voice closer next time!

To all those that have personally checked on me via phone or text I really appreciate all those calls and texts!

Getting ready for the ARRC, look forward to seeing you guys next spring when Great lakes gets back it!
