What damages the class is when respected members of the community make continued accusations about the compliance of the cars beating them and winning races. The reason we have these tear downs and compliance checks is to so that the community is satisfied that the people that are winning are running within the rules and they are not winning or beating competitors with non compliant cars. The system is far from perfect, but intentionally undermining the system and putting doubts in many less experienced competitors minds is very damaging to the class.

What Jim did is make a joke that anyone who knows anything about engine building knows was a joke. If they didn't know anything about engine building they should still know it's a joke by all the comments after his initial posting. That being said he should have done on April 1 and even the sense people that read too much into it would have gotten the joke.

As to my comment, there are lots of ignorant people out there that think because some one wins a lot he/she must be cheating and therefore it's a fact. Some of those people post on this and other message boards negative comments about the class and the "rampant" cheating at the pointy end of the field. Those are know in internet vernacular as trolls. Always laugh some little nugget out there for others to run with. Non this case Jim was trolling the trolls. I hope that clears up my comment for you.

So when people considering what class to join hear about it, do you think they will ever see the comments about it?  Or will they just see a copied and pasted ad?  Do you expect most people considering what class to join to know anything about building engines?

People who complain about how everything is run and don't get involved are a much bigger detriment to the class than any silly joke pulled by Jim. When was the last time you did something to better the class? And winning the regional race at your home track doesn't count. I got lots of those trophies too.
