SM is such an interesting class because of its both and individual and team sport. As Jim points out above, he feels his crew has a good shot at winning because he has more quality bullets in his gun. Some tracks are absolute team tracks and some are not. This is a bit of tweener.
My money is of course on Chris Haldeman and if I were able to race I would double down on that bet.
Chris is the absolute best 2-3 shifter in the game and this track is a 2-3 monster. How I have ever done well here is beyond me, as I am the worst 2-3 shifter in SM and maybe the planet. I have bent multiple shifters, not shift forks, shifters.
Jim is a close second to Chris at this track and with all those blockers (team mates) he has a distinct advantage.
Blake is fast here and has a chance to make noise at the front if he can keep his transmission in one piece.
Danny is very good at this track and will be at the front pressuring the front 5.
Preston has a chance at the podium if he drives like he did at last years nationals, but I see keeping the Toyos under him for the full race as a challenge.
Dark horses Taylor Ferranti, Justin Crickenberger and Trevor McAllion, anyone of those three could find the podium.
If i was there racing the podium would be like this:
Chris Haldeman
Michael Ross
Jim Drago
But alas that is not the case so it will look like this,
Chris Haldeman
Jim Drago
Blake Clements
Taylor Ferranti 4th
Danny Steyn 5th
Jim where is the store credit for the picks? This is the biggest race in the history of SM and their no money for picking the top 5?
Y'all have fun and enjoy the competition and each others company.
