Jim didn't. We are talking about James Dargo.

I have to say I'm really honored to be such a large topic of conversation given what little history I have with the sport. But you know what they say, if at first you don't succeed, file a protest and change your identity.

James if you need to learn your way around MSRH, go see Balake Clements.  I hear hes the $hit and can really wheel a 1.6 around that place.

My picks for the champs I am going to go out on limb here and not pick the absolute king of cot Chris holderman. He is one hell of a racer and the pick of the main stream media it seems. No slight here but it will be a long week and he will be crewchiefing for whole tribe of texans who will be breaking transmissions and much more.

Picks are top 5 in no particular order.
Preston Pardus (long as he is tall enough to ride the ride)
James junk yard dog dargo
Adam beast mode Roberts (in my car)
Nick my cylinder head has nitro Summers
ReTodd Buras
Taylor I don't break my trans Ferranti

This is the new common core caveman math

As far the race.. All under our tent have a great shot which this weekend. As a group of five, I expect us to very strong.  We have the current SCCA National Champion Preston Pardus and two previous and all but  washed up SCCA Champions including myself and Erik Stearns. We also have serious competitors Todd Buras and Craig Berry.  All of us feel we are ready, excited for what we feel will be a fun weekend on and off the track.

My top five:

One of us winning

Chris Haldeman

One of us in third

Blake Clements

Danny Steyn

Despite all the talk of a crash fest etc.. My prediction is a good clean race with no cautions

We are packed up and loaded and should be arriving this morning.

We brought two extra rebuilt transmissions for sale that will not last very long and three good used transmissions all with under 46,000 miles. Again, I suspect these will be gone by test day. It will be on a first come first serve basis.  We sold 87 transmissions last year and we had exactly Zero returns or warranty claims and I don't even sign mine, I will but thats extra    :)

We also brought one complete blueprinted torsen to sell, a 99/00 and VVt engine, some spare SD radiators, exhausts, hubs, rear knuckles, calipers, weight systems and some of the normal stuff.

If you want to reserve one, you should do so early as this track is killer on transmissions and diffs.

SM is such an interesting class because of its both and individual and team sport.  As Jim points out above, he feels his crew has a good shot at winning because he has more quality bullets in his gun.  Some tracks are absolute team tracks and some are not.  This is a bit of tweener.

My money is of course on Chris Haldeman and if I were able to race I would double down on that bet.

Chris is the absolute best 2-3 shifter in the game and this track is a 2-3 monster.  How I have ever done well here is beyond me, as I am the worst 2-3 shifter in SM and maybe the planet.  I have bent multiple shifters, not shift forks, shifters.

Jim is a close second to Chris at this track and with all those blockers (team mates) he has a distinct advantage.

Blake is fast here and has a chance to make noise at the front if he can keep his transmission in one piece.

Danny is very good at this track and will be at the front pressuring the front 5.

Preston has a chance at the podium if he drives like he did at last years nationals, but I see keeping the Toyos under him for the full race as a challenge.

Dark horses  Taylor Ferranti, Justin Crickenberger and Trevor McAllion, anyone of those three could find the podium.

If i was there racing the podium would be like this:

Chris Haldeman

Michael Ross

Jim Drago

But alas that is not the case so it will look like this,

Chris Haldeman

Jim Drago

Blake Clements

Taylor Ferranti 4th

Danny Steyn  5th

Jim where is the store credit for the picks?  This is the biggest race in the history of SM and their no money for picking the top 5?

Y'all have fun and enjoy the competition and each others company.

I assume everyone has a set soaking in something to soften them up.

Yes. You do not have to purchase a 'championship set' of rain tires. If people want to run 5 year old bricks.. have at it.
