Not sure why you would wait? The overbore rule has passed through the SMAC & CRB, I am pretty certain it passed the BOD this weekend. Is that what your waiting for?
PLEASE REMEMBER Nothing is official until you read it in in Fastrack.
As far as plates and weights, the goal was to make all cars as equal as possible on as many tracks as possible, so that should have no effect on getting your engine done or not.

Not sure where to include the NA/NB/VIN discussion
When one looks at/for the VIN in the 1.6 FSM the only place it's shown is on page GI-9, stamped in the front firewall. If shown in other places please identify where.
IMHJ should be filed under rule that needs attention. Then if folks want the loose & easy parts swap from a 1.6 to a 1.8 generate a specific rule allows that process. All said with

I'm sure Danny could post some pic that would get a lot of daily views for quite a while.Danny, do something, post a picture or a vid or something. This thread is fizzing fast.

But maybe off topic.

Yeah, I was waiting on the overbore ruling. I think #1 cylinder is a little messed up, so an overbore for the block would be in order. It only has about 1500 miles on it.
Thanks.
If it's just a single cylinder it's usually cheaper to sleeve. With an over you'll need rings and pistons as well as the machine work and I'd do bearings just because I was in there.

Two topics came up in the chat room last night. Tire contingency for the Regional events and open tire. I think a regional tire contingency would make SCCA more competitive with NASA as they give tires away.
Some regions do have contingency (I think CA somewhere for one). Might want to get with them and model a program after theirs.

We have toyo contigency, currently, in Midwestern Council. Will be exciting to see if Hoosier will work on this with us.
Blake I would like to learn more about this sometime, I think some assume that if you attempt a regional contingency that you are stepping on some national toes, did you work through the same contacts that the National folks do?

I did not set it up, it was setup by Ray Kollock. I think Dave Wheeler is the technical liason or some such, he's on this board. Ray doesn't even own a cell phone so Dave may be the better contact

Not sure if it's clear but Midwestern Council is in no way affiliated with the SCCA, so we have no such "national toes" to step on.

One thing I do want to bring up in this forum, is that SMAC, CRB, SCCA, NASA etc. - PLEASE - if you are planning to make a change to weights and restrictors for the 2010 season to bring us closer together, please let us know NOW.

1st, split the class. Put us 1.6 liter guy's in our own class, and all the other cars in theirs.
2nd, put Orange Amish Triangles on the front and back of the "have's" so we know who they are.
3rd, dyno and seal the motors at anual tech
4th, and most important, everyone throws their motor into one big pile and we draw straws on dyno day!
5th, leave the specs ell enough alone. We can't backwards engineer this into SRF, but we can keep it from becoming Prod!
a bunch of old '90's cars
and an '06 RSX Type S

2nd point - these are the bumpers in your rear view that weren't there when the green flag dropped.
3rd - i killed two motors this year. Because im cheating? no, because I'm a hack.

Quoting my post because I just read the Fastrack.
Looks like sleeving is on the way out.
Cast iron cylinder liners (sleeves) may be installed
to restore damaged or worn cylinder bores to the originalas previously permitted may be used in both Regional and
dimension. Re-boring to over size is prohibited.
National racing through the 2012 season and may not be used at the 2012 runoffs or beyond. Regions may
continue to allow sleeved blocks via supplemental regulations.
That's a pretty lame add on in my opinion. Looks like you'll need to spend the dough and hit the machine shop and Mazdaspeed.
