I'm surprised they are not pursuing the 10% waiver from the Stewards that would let them bump from 85 to 94 cars? You might say more cars just compounds the problem but realistically issues will be in qualifying (at the current session lengths) and 1st lap. Beyond that, 10 extra cars lets 10 more people play and reduces Danny's ulcers over registration.
I beleive it is COTA driven limit based on the SCCA's guidlines. If we play nicely and don't cause a ruckuss maybe subsquent events at COTA will allow a waiver.

Same schedule timewize as in the original sups just practice/qual changed where needed.
http://scca.cdn.race...pplementals.pdf
25 min practice Friday morning. (Same as scheule) Rogers request
25 min of qual Friday afternoon. Split in half if you want, so 42 cars in 12 minutes qual session.
15 min of practice Sat and Sunday before race unless you want to combine time for a longer race or longer qual session.
Fastest laptime from Saturday race sets field for Sundays Race.

If you thought Vettel complained a lot on the radio now.. Put him in a SM with 85 cars and 15 minutes to qualifyI hear Vettel has the same complaint - that 10 minutes is just not enough time for qualifying

I have been in contact with trusted members of the National staff and they have long recognized this is a destination event on the SCCA calendar. They have assured me that in the next months some of the most seasoned and experienced folks will be working with Lone Star and SWDiv members to help insure this event is a success. All of the concerns voiced in this and other forums will be examined and addressed in order to make this event as great as we all know it can be.

Are you kidding? Seb would get the pole by half a second, and he'd only need one lap to do it.

I don't know about the 1 lap part, but i would bet it would be closer to .7

I did a test here in Memphis with Ricky Stenhouse in a SM. True story, We spent the first 20-30 minutes teaching him how to drive a stick and use the clutch. He was already a pretty accomplished Sprint car driver locally at the time. Funny. Sandlin and I were significantly faster than a young Ricky. I guess that is our claim to fame. He is bad ass now, was bad ass then, just had never driven on a road course before. I can only imagine what that 16/17 year old kid was thinking with a fat guy and an old guy running around faster in a little Miata, he probably thought he had died and went to hell

87 cars on a 3.27 mile track. Everyone, including my better half, made it through lap 1.
Everyone made it because the track was shorter and their were more cars.

And the likely had some track time there before the race. It really helps when you know were the brake point are when you cannot see the track ahead of you.Everyone made it because the track was shorter and their were more cars.
