Just plop a smaller restrictor on the '01's, then.

For the record, that is NOT what I said. What Haldeman posted is basically what I said. faster laps no, more consistent and easier to turn the same lap, yes. It was shot down by BOD as many 1.6 owners opposed because they thought of it as "parity" adjustment, meaning adding speed. The thought process was they were not get out handled. IMO, this is a dead deal as it was one of the very few things passed by CRB and shot down by the BOD.
Sorry for the inaccuracy! At the time I didnt quite understand why the opposition and I guess i still don't really. Why would 1.6 drivers not want something that helps...maybe not speed but consistancy? Maybe the perception they would have to spend money on the car to keep up? If what Jim says is accurate, it would seem NB drivers would be the ones chirping?
To try and completely understand again...this discussion of Geometry revolves around the front subframe and steering rack(control arms are the same), correct? Or is the rear also a factor here? It is my understanding the rear knuckles are the only difference with a 5mm offset difference per side with all other components being the same(arms and subframe)

No problem.
I can't speak for the opposition, from memory... The cost was an issue, the feeling they would need to change, some thought it is smoke and mirrors. Some felt there were more simple solutions like shimming to help the bump steer. Also the thinking was this was a minor problem and the more important issue was there car needed to have more TQ/HP and/or the other versions less.

It is kind of funny... I have one of the better 01+ cars in the country and on the ride back from Gateway last night I decided I might start planning a 99 build for next year. The 01 doesnt have the top end!---If you race at a track that gets you into 5th gear or lots of time at the top of 4th, it is not the car to have---you will get beat by 99's!!!!
36 RP for the 99's????

It's funny that now the 99 cars are complaining about the 01 having too much bottom end torque, and that is exactly what the 1.6 cars have been complaining about for years and getting no sympathy from them. Imagine a 1.6 against the 01 cars off of a slow corner. it is brutal.

Guys, don't we usually wait until the off season to start this discussion in earnest? I feel like at least until we're done talking about the runoffs.

How about this -----ALL cars get plates... The fastest guys get the smallest ie DRAGO-STEYN----Pin Hole plates. Figure out a way to pass them around all weekend...
What about a nitrous button for the 1.6? It arms once a lap?

TiSpeed has figured out the top end based on what I've seen... maybe that's why Tisseront is asking $38k for his 01.

I have a TI Speed engine in my car and it has been great. I think there are certain cars for certain tracks though. My point to anyone who sees the 01 as the answer is just look at where you are racing it.

Maybe let the 1.6 modify their 4th gear to a shorter ratio, maybe 2-400 rpm higher after the 3-4 shift...

Anyone have any Idea if a 14 inch tire and wheel would make a difference for the 1.6 regarding torque

Anyone have any Idea if a 14 inch tire and wheel would make a difference for the 1.6 regarding torque
An engineer can give you the formula to calculate it but if you go to 14" tire, I think you will increase effective torque by the percentage difference in the circumference of the tire assuming all other things are equal but not all other things will be equal. Again an engineer can probably explain better but RPM will be increased at any given point on the track and that might be a positive if the engine is producing more power at that higher RPM. It could be a negative if the engine is producing less power at that higher RPM or even worse if you are in the next higher gear. Then you have to look over the course of a lap how much time is spent in what gear due to the tire change and figure out if it is better or not. There was some good debate on this site about 4:10 vs 4:30 for the 1.8 cars and some felt the change was not a positive one. Smaller tire might not be an improvement on some tracks and it will also decrease the contact patch size a little which might reduce corner grip.
