Pat, I am looking to aquire a 1.6 for regional rentals... Your car may be a good candidate for that in light of this new development, let me know I would be willing to go as high as $2500 for your car if it comes with a traqmate and spares.

It's official! SM will go 1999-2005 starting 1/1/14

This is total BS, considering I've had a 2006 MX-5 build waiting in the wings because Daniels and Collins assured me it would be SM "Car Of The Year" any day now.
What is the point of even writing letters anymore?
Guess you will be stuck in SM5.....I was hoping my 08 would become the next car to have in SM after I hit 300K in street trim.

That is really good news. If that is the case, it may be time to get the old SSB car that I converted to SM years ago in tip top shape for 2014! Thanks Guys!

I still think a bunch of us should show up at a vintage race.....a real fancy one like at Limerock.
Wonder what they will think of my art car heritage paint job?

I'm just concerned what this will do to mazdaracers. What is going to replace the thought provoking discussion about the 1.6 not being competitive at Road America?

2013 was to be the last year for that anyway, runnoffs moving to a new track will cause all new parity debates... Now we will just argue that the 01-05 is the handicapped car.

In related news, researchers have found conclusive evidence that driving a 1999+ Miata causes a marked decrease in testosterone levels in men.
PS: 1999 is a lot closure to 1990 than it is to 2014.

Just think of the posts on how to "cheat up" a sealed engine, or "hey, why did Stein buy 4 sealed engines".....LOL

2014 should be fun, Dewhurts, and Stallery, will be replaced by the flying frenchy and Novakain the dutchman from michigan as the parity complainers of the future...
I need to get my Ouija board out so I can see how 2014 will shake out

Jim and Mike forgot to share the part about 06+ cars in @ 2500#
Several of us wrote letters on that point, and now it looks like we'll have to let our $50K builds sit until 2016.
Maybe we all need to take our 2006+ cars to NASA and run in the Camaro Mustang Cobra Miata 944 Legends BMW Cup Vintage GTP run group!!!

Im a bit confused and maybe the bosses can help me understand. Majors and runoffs will run the new 99-05 cars with new RP. Those with 99 and up that will run the normal club races (old regional status as that is to change) will run SM in the same form as they run today??? Im just curious how the cars will fit between normal club races and the majors.

As a title sponsor, we were given the fine print this morning. Apparently, the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky will also be allowed to compete in SM. There is some discussion about changing the name to Spec Roadster.
