Simple answer is if you want to run for a national championship in a NA come run with NASA.  The NASA Championships will be at Miller Motorsports Park in 2013 & 14.

Seems like a great deal for the 99+.  The 1.6, however, still has to race against the 99+ in Club racing, right?  So the 99+ guys get double the racing (and a competitive advantage at times), and the 1.6 is shut out of the Majors entirely.  Am I missing something?

In a smart move by SVRA, VARA and Sovren, they are going to allow 1.6s in vintage for 2014. In an attempt to keep parity, the 1.6 will have to run 14x5.5 wheels, a welded diff and a 25.4mm restrictor but you can have 14:1 compression.

The next Fastrack will announce that starting in 2014, the 1999-05 Spec Miata spec line cars will be re-classed and named Pro Spec Miata. The cars will weigh 2400 lbs, the 1999/00 will carry a 50 mm restrictor while the 01-05 will run with no restrictor (55mm). This Pro Spec Miata class is for MAJORS and Runoffs Competitions. Club racing 1990/1997 cars will return to their roots continuing in Spec Miata as we know it today with the exact same rule set that we have now. The 1990/1997 cars will continue to qualify for the Runoffs per past requirements. The 1999-05 cars will not be allowed to race in the 1990-1997 Spec Miata class. I know this will be met enthusiastically by all. The 1999-05 spec lines have more freedom and the 1990-97 spec lines will not be burdened from the torque differences of the 1999 plus cars. Long term this will provide two better classes for all and the 2014 launch date leaves us with plenty of time to prepare.
