Awesome race!!
Congrats to Matt and all.
Way to go Kyle, great job!!!

Congrats to Matt & Kyle, two guys that often show up alone & do their own work. You guys are legit now. Not sure about Matt at Miller, but I know Kyle was there alone & he pulled an all nighter swapping engines on the first night.
West Coast seemed pretty well represented, despite Will not in the main. Seems like if Miatacage had worked together more it would've been theirs to lose (my $0.02 from the computer screen view).

The problem apparently is the same one we complain about all the time... nasa has made it worse by instructing the pace car to drive so slowly ( 25-30 mph is what I have heard) so in typical fashion, the pole sitter and the guys at the front get hosed, each row jumps the start just a bit more than the one in front of them and before you know it, the guys on the front row are gobbled up by the guys in the 5th and 6th row.
Say what you like about the guys in the SE, the starts we have had and that at the runoffs usually go offwithout a hitch. While they may not be by the 'book' they are fair to all. NASA needs give the pole sitter a litle latitude in order to set the pace of the start on this championship race or the same thing is going to happen today. If we are all being honest with ourselves, most would agree if the start is that slow and you find yourself in row 6, most are guessing at the green and not waiting on the green to fly. The guys on the front row don't have that luxury.
Good luck to all.
Jim
Lobby to change it then. At my local circle track the pole is explicitly allowed to accelerate after turn 3, passing is allowed once green is shown.

For those who don't know, this is Matt's second national championship, the first being in Karting years ago. He does all of his own work and also builds his own engines, which puts him in a very unique category, even in Spec Miata. From what I hear, that is how he won his karting title as well. We often kid him about how he keeps making changes to his setup and how many engines he's built. It was pretty obvious early in the race that he had hit the setup at just the right time. Lori, Jordan and I are so happy for you Matt!

Wow, I'm sure a lot of us didn't know this, a well deserved congratutions.
I'm sure the bigger prize is just him knowing I did it my way and won.
True grass roots as it should be.

Top three cars passed tech.
I'll write more tomorrow... I'm to tired to do it now.
This was my first NASA national event and surely not my last. Overall I am very happy with how the events went. Some crazy driving in qual race 2. Not happy with my rookie move on qual race one, cost me a DQ, and a 31st position start for the final race. Chris Haldeman and I worked together to move through the field, Chris had an incident right when the green dropped and caused us to loose touch with the rest of the field. We managed to move to 11 and 12th before his diff broke.
I was told the coverage mainly covered the top 5. I will post some of our videos from back of the field
Chris is an amazing guy. Thanks for all the help in making my car a rocket ship. Led most of the first qual race and pole for the second, and certainly a great car to drive for the final.
It was great meeting most of the drivers and hope to see most of you again for another championship.
NASA thx for listening to our suggestions and implementing what makes this a great series,
