For what it's worth, I think the inverted field is a good idea.
I'm coming from NJ to participate, and if the inverted field happens, this will be the only time for me where I will lead the race lol.

Yup, Spec Miata drivers do up the game. On the production car site their having good laughs about having their tiny kids on the podium.

it could be really cool to run the track in the opposite direction...
You Kyle, this REALLY appeals to me. No-one will have a home track advantage. Ive played it through in my mind and I think that it is doable from an organizational standpoint. Would be a total novelty for sure and I am sure that the SCCA flaggers would love to see something completely different.
PLEASE, can we run Road Atlanta in the opposite direction, just this once please!!!!!!

I am with you on that, i think it would be a freakin blast something I have not heard done before... T7 doestnt scare me backwards like t5 does forward. T5 backwards could be scarey... Would also be cool if nobody touched their setup before the backward race... kinf of reminds m of you guys going across th street the one year, which I missed out on... Wish i was racing with you guys at that time.

There's no way they'd consider RdAtl backwards. T1 track out would be the leading edge of the wall separating the track from pit road. Plus a dozen other reasons.

Backwards...
First in our brainstorming it was brought up. We would have to get the track "certified" in that direction and I am concerned as Russ pointed out that there might be some safety issues. Tire barriers are set up for clockwise running. I will have one of the stewards that are certified as track inspectors review the track and see what issues there may be but it is doubtful whether we could get anything done before the ARRC. We also discussed running the oval at Lanier but that never got off the ground because we can't find a contact for the track and it is pretty much in disrepair. If anyone has a current contact, please pass it on to me via email or pm.

I just heard from Road Atlanta. They will not allow reverse running "It can not run backwards. Safety is not set up for it."
Good idea though.

Ok, gonna bite. Any attempt to rig the start will end up in disaster. Very bad as it is.

(funny thing is the guy who hits the wall at the top of hill and caused all this recently listed his car for sale as "no major crash damage")
Like the company at the ARRC. Have had great times hanging out with Jim and Mac (RIP) there. Will not be back due to the racing.

They have a bicycle criterion there every year and for some reason they run it backward.
