Congratulations to all, hope tech goes well.  What is the break down of 99's vs 1.8's vs 1.6's?  And how did they place?

TIA

Congrats to Alex for a very impressive drive. He just drove a better race than I did. Tom gave me one of the best handling cars I have ever had at Road Atlanta, and Mike Rossini I gave me an awesome engine that dyno'd as well as any other engine. Will post more after tech. Cars going to be whistled, heads, cams, and valves still to be checked. Feel bad for Rossini and OPM who still have many hours ahead of them.

Don't feel bad, they deserve this because they and you did such a great job.

Also, if we didn't do this what would folks be saying?

Yes but due to previous class tech delays we are now only starting our tech teardown. It is 6pm and we are just starting and have at least 4- 5 hours minimum ahead of us. I SERIOUSLY SUGGEST that for a class that is going to get invasive tear down like Spec Miata, make sure the race is in the morning allowing people to at least head out on their long drives back at a reasonable hour. Just my opinion again

Agreed.  Please share this with Will Faules and Jim Pantas along with telling them what a fine job was done by Tech and your Race & Series Directors.   :goodvibes:

Congrats guys.  With fast lap times that close it must have been quite the weekend.  I hope more details of the weekend get a write up.

Congrats to the NASA East National Champion Alex Bolanos.

What an Awe-some time & equally incredible experience!  It was a pleasure and honor to run with the very best in SM.  I worked hard this year to prepare, and will have to work even harder moving into the future.  Here is the video from pole in Qual race 1, the first two laps are quite exciting!!

Congratulations to Alex, Danny and Matt. They were fast and clean all weekend.

Alex my sincere congratulations, you have had a hell of a year and capping it off with the East Coast championship put an exclamation point on your season. I had a front row seat to see the race as I just could not get there but was close many times and was able to watch the race unfold in front of me. Alex had a great race and his strategy was spot on. He got to Danny and Matt and immediately broken them up as they had been glued together all weekend.  At one point Alex got shuffled back about two seconds or so from Danny and was able to manage the car and tires and come back and win it. Very nice.  Danny and Matt also deserve a congrats. Both were fast all weekend. One of these days Danny or Matt is going to get a break is going to win one of these championships as well. Both are too good and have been too close so many times. I heard a rumor the Pombos are thinking about a return to SM racing next year, that would be awesome, few nicer families in racing than the Pombos.

I want to thank NASA, Kent, John Muelller and John A for a great job and a great weekend. Not the results I hoped for, but I felt the event was run very well. My only suggestion.. If you intend to do invasive tear down, schedule the race early so people can get home.

As for me, just not my week.. Been burglarized multiple times in last 6-8 weeks and the last time right before we left and was hit for 15-20k worth of merchandise. My Acura MDX was hit and run in my parking lot by one of my customers the day before we left. The truck broke down 2 hours from Road Atlanta and thankfully Chris Haldemen was two hours behind us and picked us up along the way. We got in at 4:30 am Thursday morning, slept 2.5 hours and borrowed Chris truck to go back and get my trailer. We made the 5 hour trip to go get the trailer and dump my broke down truck. We missed most of the test day. My 03 car has issues so we did not run in PTE and it leaves Sat for Ca and was what I was planning on racing at Laguna. . My 00 has issues.. Hopefully just intake butterflies as it was dead out of 7... Lastly, we hit a skunk about 30 minutes from home and my "borrowed" truck and trailer now stinks like skunk :) That sums up my week.

I think we are turning our luck around as when we got to the shop last night at 1:30 Am, our violators were back at work. We called the police and they were caught them with 85 aluminum wheels and arrested.. Hopefully they will actually see some jail time. Maybe we got it all out of the way before Ca, I sure hope so.

Damn Jim, that does suck! The mental challenge to even race after that must've been tremendous. My hat's off to you. Glad they caught the perps! We work too hard for, just for others (criminal thugs), to think they can make it their own. Sounds like you are do a case of beer and then after you clean off skunk a bottle of Jack.

Hang in there!

Holy crap Jim....you have the making of some great country song lyrics... :)

my sh*t got stole, car got hit, and now my d*mn pickup truck is sh*t,

begging for sleep, the race car won't go, and now I've got d*mn skunk on my tow,

but I SCREWED you when you came back for more.....your just a big fat aluminum whore....

Mess with me and you'll wish you were dead, so you're better off serving jail time instead.....

You can make your own uplifting refrain...hope things get better soon!
