So why are you calling for a weight penalty on the VVT car?

I really don't look at 25-35 lbs as penalty as much as an adjustment. You know I have both cars, so what ever works out best i will just run.

IMO.. If you do an RPM histogram at most tracks, you will find we spend WAY more time below 6200-6500 than above. Just my opinion that a little weight is probably a tweak in the right direction. If you put 25 lbs on the 99 and none on 02.. I doubt my decision at most tracks will change?
If we add 25/35 lbs to VVT car and leave 99/00 alone..
Ill still be running VVT at Hallet, Mid Ohio and Watkins..
Still running the 00 at Road Atlanta, Road America and Daytona...
The best decision would be to sell all!

Assuming you are correct can we take the extra weight off when we race at Road Atlanta, Road America and Daytona?

Looking at Jim's dyno sheet you can see why the 1.6 needs help on the bottom end.

I am hearing that the CRB and SMAC are considering performance equalization changes to our class for the 2015 season.

(This is not related to defining STR)

I certainly hope that there is sufficient data from multiple sources that corroborates the direction we are headed. Sample sizes of 1 or 2 in a class of over 1,000 drivers should not be the reason to change. I hope that there is time for analysis and discussion.

But then there are those that say the I live in LALA land

I think what this boils down to-
Some decent VVT cars showed up this year and did okay but did not win every race they entered so we need to slow them down.
The 1.6 needs help and they will all show back up.
The 99 is fine except for Kyles and he gets a bigger plate
Do any 1.8 cars still exist ?
Seems pretty simple and everyone is happy.

Well I have read all of the posts for the last few weeks and I haven't seen that much talking about the 94 - 97 NA cars. I think I'm the last guy in Florida to be running a 97 NA car that can finish in the top 15 consistently with all of the BIG BOY 99 + cars when they race in Florida so I don't suck as a driver. Honestly I don't think I will ever podium at a big race with my 97 car.

Here are my observations and I will use Daytona as an example since I have raced mainly Florida tracks for the last 4 years. I have raced two different 97 cars and both had the same results at Daytona multiple laps over and over again.

Example #1: I am pushing a 99 car to catch another 99 car 5 - 10 car lengths ahead. As soon as the two 99's touch bumpers they both walk away from me by 10 car lengths or more before Turn 1 and I am the 3rd car in the draft in 5th gear.

Example #2: I am faster through the back straight bus stop and I gain 5 - 10 car lengths on a good 99 car. When I go into 5th gear the closing rate is very fast and I just lost all of the gap and they go right around me with nobody pushing them. If the order is reversed with the 99 in front of me with a 5 - 10 car length gap I cannot close the gap.

These scenarios have happened to me so many times with many different cars and drivers I have lost count. I'm not on here asking for anything for the 94 - 97 NA cars I just wanted to talk about my observations and whatever the rules are is the way I will race because at the current time I cannot build a 99 + car.

I agree with you Danny, rumors are afoot that those changes could be significant, i hope not as i maintain there was some good racing this year among different cars, tracks, and drivers.

Perhaps switch back to a stock airbox on the 1.6s if that would reduce tuning requirements.

It's the AFM that needs the tuning. Going back to a stock airbox isn't going to change that.

No vvt car has ever been found non compliant on compression to my knowledge, you can suspect in your favor all you want. Those are facts!

Sorry Kyle but that just has no credibility AT ALL which is why everyone is ignoring you and working from exactly the opposite position. The cars failed with the cover off and the builder then got away with an absolutely preposterous appeal after squeeking by with the covers on. Those are the facts, whether you believe there is adequate proof or not. Even he has not disputed it.

Time will tell... I didn't say I believed they were compliant. I just said they were not found non compliant. That's a fact.

Everyone has been asking for facts all the while ignoring that fact.

Will the car be slowed? I am not on those committees but if I was I would vote to slow that one model... And I am not against working on the 1.6 which many here are... Another fact.

The fact is they were found non-compliant then he conned his way out of it, simple as that. But the point is, by insisting there is any reasonable doubt is a disservice to all, and that's why I don't let it drop easily.

So who's VVT car is beating you so badly that you demand it has a penalty . And what is the basis of your penalty, what data? And Steve S has your number and Steve D provided the link so you can see. They were non compliant to the new testing procedure and talked their way out of it.
