If we are not going to penalize the 01+ after seeing the drago dyno sheet, lets start talking about:

Spec-ing a Stahl header for the 99-00

Lightned fly wheel clutch assembly for the 99-00

Turbo charger for the 1.6

a 5.0 liter swap for the 94-97

Here are both of my cars before leaving to California. Compression was never above the rule, heads both built the same with edge broke on STR. The 02 is better to 6000, basically the same/similar up to 6500 and the 00 is better above 6500. We don't spend as much time above 6500 as you would think. We spend zero time above 6500 in 4th at Laguna which is why the VVT car was a better choice there. Had I not had the braking issues and the car shutting off at the bottom of corkscrew, I would have run the 03 car at Laguna. However, I was always running the 00 at Road Atlanta at the NASA Champs. I believe the cars are very close and track dependent.

So why are you calling for a weight penalty on the VVT car?

As for $ parity, we have SM multi class racing in one run group in our region. (as stated before) Nice field of car that everyone likes.

National,

Regional

SSM

Look at overall if that's all that matters to you.

Look at your Class because you can't compete overall.

Then you have a little skin in the game with a chance to win in class.

Keeps people happy, challenged, IMO.

That's what I have been trying to figure out. I have yet to hear why. I guess because VVT and 1.6 people are not bitching about the 99's loud enough.

You and Kyle are smoking from the same huca

Edit Your double posting I saw it the first time. Is there some kind of a contingency money out there i am missing for trying to kill the VVT.

Hate to see what you guys do the the MX5, Maybe cut it back to three wheels.

yeah because Dragos dyno sheet is the only data that should be used to adjust the cars.  I like you Kyle but you are being a tad obtuse on this subject.  It appears you are scared Frank is going to beat your ASSSSSS this year and you want to put him at a disadvantage by any means necessary.

BTW a more correct analogy to the Lance Armstrong tour victory would be the Whistle gate cars.  They were legal within the rules of the test applied.  They may or may not have been illegal if the heads were CCd.  The Whistler is only an indicator of a possible compression compliance failure it is not the ultimate test.

I should be crying, my 01 was getting dropped like a bad habit at the NASA champs midway from 7 to 10a.  I need a bigger restrictor plate.  I was pushing a 99 and it would drop me at 6200 in fourth gear.  How many seconds are we above 6200 in fourth at Road Atlanta on the back straight..... FORFUCKINGEVER!.  Danny will have actual data but my perception was FORFUCKINGEVER! especially as the 99 i just shoved out of the corner is gapping me by 3 car lengths.

Is that enough whining, do I get my larger plate now?  Or do I need to show some dyno sheet and cry about how I'm only as good as a 99 in some spots and worse than others.

We can throw dannys dyno graph in the trash, he put that up and it wasnt even april fools, if he thinks anyone believes that hs i would be suprised.

Frank has already beaten me with the 01 car, his car is incredible I'm glad for him, but the car needs some adjustment.  I have no problem sayting that to him or you or anyone.

I for one dont believe armstrong shoudl be stripped, nore should any of the results of what you may or may not feel happened with the vvt cars and the whistler,  No fault was ever found. those cars are two fast and need slowed, there is no proof it was compression that made them sucessful. It is just the year car they are IMO.

Since a few were asking 1.6 drivers for their thoughts,

In my opinion, in order to get the 1.6 to be more competitive, i don't think the 1.8's should get restricted further to match the 1.6 because the 99+ is the direction the class has been taking and is continuing to go. It would be unfair for the majority of the class to keep getting penalized to keep a minority percentage competitive.  Even though it would cost money for my 1.6 to get competitive again, i believe that upgrading the 1.6 is the fair way to go in leveling out these cars. Whether it is a 1.8 swap or different upgrades, I would be willing to spend that money, rather than to support the cause of slowing down the 1.8s to match my speed. I do not have the expertise in to knowing how to upgrade it, but it should be done and I am all for it.  I personally don't want a further weight reduction, as I am already at 2305 lbs with a 225 pound driver and I dont know how much lighter we can get without me going on a big diet.

Again, I do NOT support further restricting the 99+ cars that are legal. When it comes to the cars that have been found non compliant, they should either get their motors fixed, or if that is not a reasonable plan, give those cars a penalty, similar to the weight penalty of 15 pounds for being bored over.  Just my opinion.

In response to water boy,

To my knowledge, SCCA is not trying to create sub-classes on a national level so i doubt SCCA would want a national SSM (1.6 class) and I wouldn't want to drive in that class anyways.  I know that my car and my driving ability are not 100% at the moment, but it has been a greater accomplishment to me this past year if I can still see those fast guys in front of me or hang on to their rear bumper, instead of them disappearing after the first few laps like how it was for me one year ago.  To me, it would not be as fun driving in SSM and achieving a podium every race. I would rather finish top 35 in a 70 car major race than finish 1st out of 6 cars. I cannot speak for other 1.6 drivers.

Is it possible that his setup and his personal performance was just better than you that day?  I have been beaten by a 94 in my 99, does that mean that model needs slowed down?

Maybe Frank and you swap cars for a day.

Good Lord, 47mm isn't going to be enough for an NA1.8!  I'd say 48mm but since nobody wants to talk about 1mm changes I guess it has to be 49mm.
