Pretty Brett Becker will be there and for sure I will be.
Bretts car decided to not work and will not be racing. He will be there Sunday to help in Tech.
Is there a place where SM's usually park or is it just a free for all?
Lots of guys get garages (I'll be in #7)... Those who don't should try to congregate here (near G3 and fuel station).

Is there a gas station in the facility somewhere? Couldn't see one on the track map.
And is there someone that sells/mounts tires at socal events?

If you pit in the area on the map I posted you'd be adjacent to the fuel station.
SoCal usually has a tire vendor at all our events but for some reason we will only have someone to mount & balance, no sales this event.

The race was around 1p. I can't post anything if Race-Monitor doesn't.

Burgoon and Mueller love ya both but the start you guys want is whats going to create the turn 3 crash! A tight bunched field with a slow start will allow those in back to make runs on the front. Lets see 15 teen challenge competitors trying to win in turn 3....I expect carnage LOL A fast start with the front row accelerating first and early will create a safe start at that track, but what do I know....The earliest green possible will also spread out the field....
Why is it that the one with the most experience is always dismissed?
Wrecks happen from slow steady starts it always allows row 8 to be at wot before the green and swallows row 1 by the first real turn. It happens at every type track in have ever been to. Rolling on the power is the only way so that everyone is at wot before the green. It gives everyone the opportunity to stay pretty much right where they qualified on lap one, and then let's the one guy who screwed up qual to work his way to the front without having to race agricultural on lap one.

Bumper to bumper starts are fun and all, but they amplify the risk of a chain reaction like what happened today. I see east coast SM videos and they seem to give each other a lot of room, 5 ft in between rows and 5 ft between bumpers, which seems to work well? Not sure how it would work on a drafting track like ACS but we should definitely discuss our options for start rules.
Best,
Matt

Maybe the east coast is ahead of the west coast trends for once?

Matt we always roll on the power it is no surprise to anyone in the field. It is the fairest safest way to start... I have even run Daytona with no crash at the infield... Have been spun at start at mis but that was 50% my fault. Every time we stack up the start the way the rule book reads its crash fest...

I think a roll on is good, but that the spacing between cars is equally important (5ft is enough to react if the car ahead of you misses a gear). Do you guys have rules stating spacing for the start, or is it just a gentleman's agreement for everyone to give courteous spacing? Out here even in west coast regional events we are glued bumper to bumper, the top 4 rows all pushing while the lead cars hold the brakes. It is super fun and makes great pictures, but it can easily go wrong like it did today when there is no room for adjustment.
Maybe this start topic should be started in another thread. I am comfortable with the starts we have now, but should just be discussed if they are worth the extra risk.

Well... that sucked. Pretty rough weekend for the SM group. Normally NASA races are very clean. Some cars torn up and an aborted race (30 min FCY) on Sunday. Not the best foot forward for sure. On the plus side the dyno was was very busy. In spite of a pretty large turn out, tech was on their game. Not sure what was checked as I didn't hang out in impound for long but tech appeared to be tapping cars throughout the field and not just top 3-5. Thanks to John Mueller and the NASA tech staff for all the hard work. I'm sure it made for a long weekend for them.

Someone have a link to official results?
Why is there no P2 in the race monitor results?
All here say so if not accurate someone can correct me...but tech officials goggleing instructions on how to use the whistleer doesnt sound like a confidence builder for those involved in the Teen Challenge?

No it didn't lol. Check out lap times across the board for the Saturday race, pretty insane how close everyone was. Here are the unofficial results.
Great meeting some of the socal people, got a hefty push from Dean Busk in the first practice, and was racing with Jeremy Barnes all weekend long. And of course great seeing everyone else. Time for me to hit the dyno and get better numbers for the next race, I was down 2-3hp from where I should be but I had good torque so no excuses!

I got whistled. They seemed to be using the whistler correctly. The googling wasn't for instructions on the whistler, it was for looking up bore and stroke and compression ratio numbers.
My car whistled legal. A 99 whistled at 10.0:1. There was some confusion about how much overbore pistons matter, so I suggested that tech adjust the displacement setting down until the car whistled 9.5 and write down that displacement, then figure out the math later.
I did some napkin math, and it looks like 10 over pistons add about 0.15 ci each so 0.6 cubic inches to the total displacement? Sound right?

Aren't the numbers in the rules?

Shouldn't matter. The compression limit is the same. Adjustments made to keep it at the comp limit done with the head thickness and block deck height I believe.
