Hey Guys,

I'm looking for a reputable roll cage fab shop in SoCal.  So far I have three guys that could possibly do the job.  I  want to update this list later with my progress and quotes for a full roll cage install, minus prep and paint.  If anybody has any other shops in mind in the area.  Post below and I'll get a quote and post it.  I've called each location to confirm that they are at least capable of doing SCCA legal cages.

My list so far:

Iron Canyon Motorsports (SCCA and NASA specialized)

Santa Clarita, CA

http://www.ironcanyonmotorsports.com/

RRC Fabrication and Off Road (Will quote for SCCA legal cage, less SCCA/NASA experience)

Montclair, CA

http://rrcfabricationandspeed.com/

Leonards Custom Fab

Fullerton, CA

http://lenordscustom....com/index.html

Edit:

Found a few more:

Racecar Factory (circle track)

Irwindale, CA

http://www.racecarfactory.com/

Blackbird Fabworks (will quote for SCCA cage, higher end $$, great quality)

Canoga Park, CA

https://www.facebook...?type=3

AWR Racing (has Miata and SCCA experience)

Vista, CA

http://www.awrracing.com/

Thanks,

Z

I've got a bar from Moti at Blackbird Fabworx in my Street toy, and it is fantastic.  Super nice guy and the quality second to none.  Check out his facebook for pictures and info.

Iron Canyon is the only one on the list with Spec Miata racing experience.  Armada is a good off road fab shop. Racecar Factory is pretty much circle track only.  It's one thing for someone to put a kit in but another to design something specifically for the Miata.  Most of the big time off road builders are in the I-15 corridor from Baja to Vegas.  They're some of the best tube fab shops in motorsport but don't do sportscars as a general rule (though some may).

As for a custom SM cage I'd likely use AWR in Vista or send the car up to Alan Blaine in Santa Cruz.  AWR has significant Mazda, including Miata experience and while Blaine isn't SM or even Mazda specific he's got a ton sportscar race fab experience including SM.

Any idea how to get in contact with Alan Blaine?  Does he have  a website?  Could you possibly PM me his number?

Thanks.

If you're willing to come up to Santa Cruz, might as well come see Tony at TC Design. He's in Campbell, he did mine, does Laguna exhaust too among a million other things

I'll add that Blackbird, while not specifically a SM guy, has a TON of miata experience, and extensive sportscar experience.  His current personal project is a Miata with active aero and a Ferrari V8 swap...

We had Yawsport install our MiataCage.com kit. Got a high quality cage, with custom fit, without the custom price tag.

David, any comment on why you are glad you went with TC over other shops?
