Drennan for the win on track.

... Will we get SMMD commentary this time? Last time we didn't get any scoring, and we had to make fun of you ourselves.

I have no idea. Maybe you should ask the SMMD guys instead of me

TOPEKA, Kan. (Oct. 15, 2018) – It’s what many believe to be one of the greatest annual racing events in North America: The Sports Car Club of America® National Championship Runoffs®.  Again this year, fans of motorsport can follow all the action live, for free, online at SCCA.com/live as nearly 500 SCCA® racers battle it out at Sonoma Raceway Oct. 16-21 to decide who is the best across 28 different car classes.

Audio-only coverage of Runoffs qualifying will start at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Tuesday, Oct. 16 and Wednesday, Oct. 17 at SCCA.com/live. Providing the commentary are longtime Runoffs pit reporter Heyward Wagner, Tom O’Gorman (pro driver), Gregg Ginsburg (Super Tour Radio), Andy Hollis and Larry MacLeod (SCCA Solo Nationals announcers) along with occasional special guests. Audio coverage of the final day of qualifying, where Tire Rack Pole Award winners are decided, will continue at 8:30 a.m. Pacific Time on Thursday, Oct. 18 with commentary provided by the Super Tour Radio presented by Hoosier Racing Tire broadcast team consisting of Mike Wolfe, Bob Steele and Ginsburg.  Along with the audio feed, SCCA.com/live will have live timing and scoring for each qualifying group.

Live, online video coverage of Runoffs races, presented by Mazda, will occur Friday, Oct. 19 through Sunday, Oct. 21 at SCCA.com/live with Greg Creamer again anchoring the broadcast joined by Ryan Myrehn (SportsCar365 writer), O’Gorman, Hollis and MacLeod while Wagner provides coverage from pit lane. For the tenth year in a row, video coverage will be handled by Apex Broadcast. An audio race call will also be supplied by the Super Tour Radio broadcast team all three days. Live timing and scoring will also be available at SCCA.com/live for each National Championship race.

The SCCA National Championship Runoffs has evolved into what is now commonly agreed to be the pinnacle of American motorsports. Since 1964, the SCCA has crowned Road Racing’s National Champions at the winner-take-all, single race Runoffs format through dozens of separate races over three days.  As host of the 55th Runoffs, Sonoma Raceway becomes only the third California track to host SCCA’s National Championship, joining Riverside International Raceway and WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. Spectator tickets for the 2018 Runoffs are on sale now at http://www.sonomarac...onship-runoffs/

The Sports Car Club of America®, Inc., founded in 1944, is a 67,500-member motorsports organization that incorporates all facets of autocross, rally and road racing at both Club and professional levels. With headquarters in Topeka, Kansas, the SCCA annually sanctions over 2,000 events through its 116 Regions and subsidiary divisions. Much of the SCCA’s activities are made possible with support from the following Official Partners: Chevrolet, the Official Truck of the SCCA; Hawk Performance, the Official Brake Products of SCCA; Mobil 1, the Official Oil of SCCA; Sunoco, the Official Fuel of SCCA; and Tire Rack, the Official Tire Retailer of SCCA. Looking at the track map and data from various classes it appears that the speed trap is inside the braking zone for some and maybe right at it for others. Trap speed isn’t all that useful anyway but in this case it’s of no value at all for a lot of cars. I assume it is just wherever the track has it installed? Or is that placed by SCCA?

Sutherland has cranked it up! He and Drennan well under the TR. But this isn’t shaping up to be the usual case of the top dozen in the same second. Tough track!

:) But he’d better hold on to it. I’ve been watching some video and I don’t like the 1.6’s chances of executing a pass and making it stick.

We can talk about parity but we should let SMMD handle the parody.  :spin:
They got a shout out during the qualifying broadcast today.  :)

Ya, with Drennan currently .7 secs faster, and Ken too, (locals imo) should be a done deal. Lol.

I was looking at this as well tonight...really dumb place!! Definitely in the breath/brake zone for 10. 150' back and we would see the fastest part of the track!

For as late in the day as SM went out today the track was ripe! Air temp maybe 75-78, sun was getting lower...and key was we had a good wind! Out of the north and west...maybe 10 mph. This helps the downhill complex from 7 to 11! My guess is many PR times this session and overall .5 to 1 second faster average for the field compared to most test day sessions.
