I heard the exact opposite and that Elivan's car was almost as fast as the T2 cars on the straights that weekend.
At any rate, that was a fun race to watch and a great drive by them both.
Not sure how I feel about this. Reminds me of '06 NER national season, SG protested Ken Zalner multiple times after Z beat him on track. Basically outspent Z. However, protests are the best way to weed out the BS.
If Elivan's car came back legal after the protests, than I'm sure his victory was even sweeter.

I found it insulting that the guy who's been known to have the TWO best cars at every race complaining about equipment, and the guy that took out the pole sitter on lap 1 complaining about contact.
I couldn't help but laugh. Yeah, cause there's little money spent on Steve's cars. LOL!!
The incident between Drago and Steve appeared to be both of their faults with neither willing to give any ground.

There is an SCCA published court of appeals decision on the matter declaring the car was legal. Gorrarian took the appeal all the way to the top. Complete engine tear down by Rossini - car was legal. Gorrarian lost $4,000 of his $4,500 bond.

But the results from that pocono race show that elivan was DQ'd for a ECU. Motor may have been legal but...
What I want to know is what is going on Now.

Then the results have not been updated. The Court of Appeals decision states that he is the winner of the Pocono race.

The whole ECU part of the protest was interesting to say the least. In the end, the ECU ruling was thrown out. In the background there was a fair amount of politics.
Besides, about the ECU ruling, it's tough to judge since the '99 is the car to have because of the ECU or so a semi-outsider like me believes. Yes, I've read the thread about ECUs and don't claim to have a full grasp of things yet.
Btw, saw Drago's Facebook post on Elivan's page. That's the way to do it Jim.

If Steve ran the fastest lap didn't he have the fastest car? Not sure what he is complaining about. Is he saying that despite setting the fastest lap time, Elivan's car was faster and thus is a cheater? Someone help me out here. I'm new to the concept of setting the fastest lap yet someone else has a faster car.

The difference in lap time was .009, that's hardly enough to argue one car was faster than the other."Gorriaran earned the Hawk Fastest Race Lap award for his record-setting 2:43.890 (87.864 mph)."

I'm sure both cars are equally fast. They put on a great show. Gorriaran got a little emotional after the race but don't we all sometimes? The win for Elivan is not tainted in the fact that Gorriaran was saying negative things at the end of the race but complimented that he came out on top of a field of racers that put every bit of skill they had into it.
Run away!!!!

Well, there's drafting. And there's also bump drafting.

If six guys get DQ'd, do the next six go in the tech shed
No. By this time they could be packed up and gone. They only have a chance to tech the cars pulled into impound immediately after the finish. Typically 6. So yes in theory the 7th place finisher could win if all failed tech and escape being teched themself.
