Jim, it's OK, it's a Miata thing. Multi time National Champ Jon Brakke did the same thing on an out lap at Road America. It's called warming up your tires on the edge, same way you pointy end drivers drive.

Ok, I gotta ask - how does tech distinguish them from non-copies - and what possible difference can it make.

"Bump stop issue... same material same size copies."
Ok, I gotta ask - how does tech distinguish them from non-copies - and what possible difference can it make.
Tech at the Runoffs compared the questionable bump stop rubber rough cut off end to the known FatCat bump stop rubber smooth cut off end and DQ'ed the bump stop with the rough cut off end. Performance difference, zip, nada, nothing. BUT, we do have rules, Riiight. By rule, compare questionable part to known legal part.

Evening guys! Here is footage of the stack up and wreck from Race one, lap one that ended my weekend, and possibly the car. I'm not 100% sure I want to rebuild it yet, until we take it apart and investigate a bit further. Luckily I walked away with nothing but a headache for the rest of the day.
Also, before anyone mentions it, I know I should have taken my hands off the wheel, but being my first big wreck, I didn't think about it while heading towards the wall. The wreck was very fast forward and slow motion all at once.

I thought he had "help"
no help....couldn't believe it was happening at first, then off through the grass to avoid.

Entry list doesn't show a #72. With all the talk about cracking down on contact, I sincerely hope some penalties were assessed.

I'm sure that was a mild code brown moment for you. It looked like you two got pretty close.

Well, I peaked way too early this weekend. 3rd fastest on test day (until the last session when I missed the grid). 5th fastest in practice. And then in qualifying 1, a race broke out as soon as we left the grid. What a joke that was. 2nd qual, Jamie showed up and we finally had a good lap going in lap 3, until we caught 1 car in 16 and passed four cars in T17 on our fastest lap which put us 18 and 19 on grid. Oh well, shit happens.
Race 1, avoided the mayhem and went left into the grass which put me back to 45th. Worked my way up to 31st in like 3-4 laps, but couldn't get a good lap time in so I moved back to 20th on starting grid.
Race 2, got chopped off by a guy who ran like a dick all weekend and even got spun because of it, so I had to hit the brakes in the middle of the carousel. Next was the hairpin, got run off track on the right side of the track coming out of it and lost a few more. Which for the next few laps watched blocking and bad racing all through the field. Then, 2.5 laps in, my battery cable melted and shut the car off. Watched the rest of the race from T14.
I am happy for my best friend P$ on dominating race 2 and getting the win! But, I do not think I will do this race next year. People care way too much and drive like dicks for no reason. I shouldn't be getting blocked and run off track for any position (let alone 20th and back). It wasn't fun at all and I will most likely just watch from the sidelines next year. There is a reason why so many cars looked like shit at the end of the weekend, because they banged doors and fenders this week and the week before at homestead and clearly don't learn anything from one session to the next.
