One thing that seems to be missing is that SCCA members are also customers. I would guess that most everyone who has shared negative comments works for some kind of business. How many times has someone in your business screwed up which has caused financial harm to another party? Huh?

And lets be honest. If someone suffers financial harm over something like this then whoever they are dealing with that holds them responsible is a pure D!

So cast your stones. I hope you remind yourself of your comments the next time a customer has a problem with the business you are involved in.

Let's all try to be better members and good customers.

In the words of SCCA...Thank you for your input!

I can honestly say I've never gone to SCCA.com to register or get registration information for an event. Where exactly are we supposed to be watching for news? I don't see any "registration is opening soon" announcements for any events on SCCA.com.

Full disclosure: SMAC chairman, my opinions do not reflect anything to do with the SMAC unless specifically stated.

Here is the official page I was told to watch:
http://www.scca.com/...ex.cfm?eid=5405

I think it was linked in the Majors schedule announcement earlier this month.

I'll delurk for a minute...

That's a pretty pathetic attitude to have, as are the attitudes of Chris the "webmaster" and Roger Krebs. We're that to happen with any of the organizations with which I'm professionally involved there would be at least some sort of internal action toward those responsible up to and including termination. Roger Krebs has communicated the situation in an unprofessional manner by not accepting responsibility for the situation and basically blaming the customers. The customers didn't post the link to the registration and had no way of knowing the registration wasn't "open", even though it was on a public facing page of the region's site. This to me indicates a lack of knowledge on the modern methods of communication and how this sort of media is involved in everyday life.

Krebs seems to be more concerned with how CoTA views the region rather than providing a world class experience to the customers. In his two communications thus far Krebs has been dismissive, arrogant, and talked down to the competitors when he should have been humble and apologetic. There is no need to speak to the racers in that manner. They are all adults and should be given the rules and face the consequences if they are violated.

At this point it appears the region may not be able to host an event of this magnitude without some outside help from persons that have produced events of this scale. Given the issues with registration and the obvious fact that not a great deal of thought was put into the qualifying format for a completely subscribed class would lead me to believe that this is only the first of the issues.

Back to lurk mode, got metal to bend and melt together...

I know this situation is aggravating and the entire community is in a feeding frenzy, but we need to take a minute and focus on the real prize, racing on The world class facility in the US. While the new registration will be another competitive circus and it's readily apparent that some will be left on the sidelines, no one can deny that an entry in this event is a coveted race spot. Having endured somewhat lackluster turnouts at some events over the last couple of years, this will be an event to rival anything on the calendar. I am not a fan of the limited correspondence from the region, its timeliness and its "unauthorized" tone, it's time to move on and start the anticipatory bench racing BS that SM is so well known for :)
Let's not just be racers and consumers, we are the "Club", let's all work together to come up with solutions to ensure things like this never happen again.
Ok, all done rah-rahhing!

maybe we can have a webinar on speed registration on DLB? I think I am going to register for every event i can during the next few days and fine tune my skills. Perhaps set up some hot keys on my screen for name, address, phone, cc#, etc. :)

OK, what is the over/under to get to 85 in Sm on this new registration link? I am saying it will be full in less than 25 minutes?

I know you are joking, but you can automate the registration process.

Wouldn't be too hard to do. The biggest problem would be if they change the registration form.

Who goes to the SCCA website to find out when a race will begin registering racers. There is some underlying reason we are voiding registrations and starting over, if it was payment we could all be given a deadline to have our money in, I own a business and getting and keeping customers is the hardest thing of all, once you get one you dont chase him away and then try to get him back... There is no logic to any of this...

Look at the bright side, if you used Chrome to register the first time, it should autofill the forms for you, and you already have your car and SCCA membership stored in the web site. Should be a breeze.
