!! Registration for COTA - Link is WRONG !!

We ALL know you mean well, but your first post rubbed some of us the wrong way. Whether Lee, or SOWDiv created, posted, or reposted the link, the fact of the matter is that DLB racing went live at 12.01 today and accepted 203 entries. This is not in dispute.
Lots of incredibly excited individuals planned their day (and week) around entering this one event, as many of us knew it would be oversubscribed. We are all thrilled to be racing at COTA, and thrilled for SOWDiv that you now have a track of this caliber that will do so much for your division.
But to just say to them that the link was "BOGUS" is a real slap in the face to many motor racing enthusiasts. I really hope that the event officials will realize that just rendering these entries invalid will do a lot of damage to an event that will probably go down in history as one of the most desirable races in SCCA history.
Of course Chris, this is just my opinion, stated in an open forum, praying that cool heads will prevail and that the stirring tribes will calm down

As I said before, there's a lot going on without this little fiasco. The race chair (Roger Krebs) is trying to sort everything out and get registration officially open. Official word right now: keep an eye on the SCCA website ( http://www.scca.com/...ex.cfm?eid=5405 ) or the DLB calendar as those will be where official registration will be posted.

As Danny points out, how does DLB start taking registrations at 12:01 (not one minuted before, believe me I tried over and over)? Somone within the SCCA had to set that up, whether it was the race chair or not it sure was a working link that allowed 200+ entries. That wasn't an accident, somebody made it happen. Things happen that aren't planned or communitcated, I get that. What is the real problem with honoring the 200+ entries? Is it because other classes weren't noticed? (or were they because the link was on the SOWDiv Website).

True, Danny... perhaps "bogus" isn't the correct dictionary term... whatever word you want to use: the race chair doesn't know how that link got posted or how registration opened without his go-ahead. It seems somebody jumped the gun, and blaming whoever it is won't do any good except to make you guys feel better.

This would appear on face value that someone is going to wipe the slate clean and start over again. This would seem to be softly being re-enforced by the notion that we should all sit tight and hit refresh on that scca link above that has now been posted twice and at the point hopefully everyone (particularly garage people and SM people) catch it at just the right time after already scheduling our day around getting in and getting in early when:
a: SM was known to likely hit the 85 mark in a hurry
b: There was a limited number of garages.
Good times.

I HOPE the race chair delays registration so that notice can be posted about an official opening of registration. I'm not the race chair. Feel free to shoot the messenger. This would appear on face value that someone is going to wipe the slate clean and start over again. I hope its not just becuase the race chair didn't press the button to magically open the registration and his ego is bruised.

Mike asked a good question, why not let the registrations stand? What's the problem with not allowing it?
I hope its not just becuase the race didn't press the button to magically open the registration and his ego is bruised.
You know that is the case...

James, it's not an ego thing. It's an official process/SCCA bureaucracy thing, if any. Did you notice all the incorrect information on the entry page, besides the outdated TWS camping info? Because that wasn't the official registration link...
I have a feeling I'm going to get yelled at for my continued posts in here, just trying to answer your questions.
There are plenty of events that have opened registration without links or correct links to supp's etc. and that was fixed later. I doubt this was troublesome to anyone today.

If I get closed out i am going to Atlanta.
Just had that conversation with LaBounty... It was hard to coordinate all 7 of our guys to get registered today, we may wind up in ATL instead also.
And yes, Chris... I know you Texans will be just fine without us blah blah blah.
Spare me ,,/,, ,,,,
