Yes, but it only last for about 12 seconds. Once the spinning stops it gets rather boring.
Sorry about your race, I am sure that was beyond frustrating.

Happy to report that Willie is looking really good considering what he went through. He seems to be having excellent care, also his wife and sister are staying with him. They are hopeful that he will be able to go home by this weekend, but of course will follow the doctor's recommendations. While not 100% positive on the root cause of his injuries, the vertebra trauma has the hall marks of spinal compression. I know I'm going to double check where my shoulder harness are in relation to my shoulders on top of my HANS.

For those of us that aren't positive on the best placement, are you just making sure that the shoulder harness attachment to the cage is perpendicular to (or above) the horizontal plane of your shoulders as you sit in the seat?
Nevermind- this was posted in the other thread about making the class safer.

Anyone have video of Sunday's race?
Ross makes his first appearance around the 1 min mark. Also has the front straight splash (Corley / Thomas). With his permission, Thomas' clip of the impact in T7 added at the end. (I've seen on FB that Willie is healing up!)

Big thanks to everyone for all their thoughts and prayers. In short I broke a few vertebras and needed to have fusion surgery on L1 and L2. I am well on the road to recovery and back at work.
I am so glad the Lee stayed buckled up – I could have killed him if he had not or if his car was turned the other way.
I am retiring from racing. I wish to thank all the people that have helped me along the way. First and foremost biggest thanks to John Phillips for support, coaching and friendship as I tried to go faster and race better! I am sure I will miss someone but here goes – Kent, Taylor, Blake, Eric, Chris, Michael, Alex, Ed, Matt R., Matt B, Charles, Craig, Brian, James and many others. And the ladies that that have support my racing, Rana, Jamie, Nanetta, Diane and Syd much love to you.
Thanks to every one see you at the track (I will be watching and helping in the pits)

Willie, great you posted thanks for the report. Your life shall go on without driving is a decision we all make sooner or later. At 73 years a good decision on my part would be to retire from driving and being involved at the track.
Tard,
Sorry to hear you are hanging it up, but so glad you are doing well and recovering. I will miss your humor and opposite view on things, but I know you have better things to do. Good luck, please visit us and if you ever feel the need to change tires or something, I'll hire you as long as you work for free.

Willie-
We've never met, though we know several of the same people. It was core-shaking to see the hit, and hear of your injuries. I'm glad you are on the mend, and well enough to be back at work. Enjoy life, and I hope to see you at the track sometime.

I didn't lose, I just got outspent!
Wishing you the best Willie! Sad to see you off the track but glad you will still be in the pits. Get well Willie!

Hoping for a speedy recovery. That hit was a scary one. For the first time in a LONG time I sat on the grid at Mid Ohio, thinking about getting hurt and WTF I was doing racing in the first place. It passed when we started driving, but it was there.
We all will hang it up sooner or later, we rarely ( well never : ) ) agreed on much. But I certainly wish you well! Hoping for a speedy recovery and no lasting problems from this accident
