Really so great to see Mike Cottrells name on the entry list - been a long time since he has been on the track - not since he was T-boned while driving his classic Mini. Hope Mike gets up to speed real fast.
Also really great to see how many out-of-towners the Major's events are attracting. Many coming down from the NE. Two weeks ago at NOLA it was like the United Nations, although the Cuban Contingent seemed to have the numbers with 8 drivers representing the homeland!!!

I second that Glad Mike is back. Mike is one of my beer trading partners along with Skip. I am just wondering if we can still call him Mr. Pink?

Wow, leaving Haldeman off that list is pretty sporty. Pretty sure he has more laps at this track than anyone in the field. Car is good, think he will have something for anyone.

Weather report looks wet for Sunday. Danny and Balacke are licking their chops.
There is a multi time national champion, last one was a hell of a drive in the wet that needs to be added to that list

Yeah he was pretty fast. Hand timed him in 1:56.6. Danny ran a 55.0 at some point today. Danny and Blake were 56.6 ish in the last session that had a little more rain.

Storylines/Things To Watch For
Major League: In September 2012, the Sports Car Club of America rolled out the U.S. Majors Tour as the top level of amateur racing in this country. The Majors Tour replaces what was previously called "National" SCCA racing, split into a season-long championship in five geographic Conferences. Road Atlanta shares a long history with SCCA competition, including playing host to the National Championship Runoffs for many years. As for Chuckwalla, this will be the first time the Majors Tour visits the country club-style venue.
SCCA Club Racers – The Best in the Country: There are many amateur road racing groups in the United States, but the clear leader of top drivers is with the SCCA. Though most are weekend warriors who take vacations from their full-time jobs to attend races, it's a craft taken seriously. Bobby Rahal, Mark Donohue, Roger Penske, Michael Andretti, and actor/driver Paul Newman got their start in SCCA Club Racing. More recently, you could have seen current stars Boris Said, Graham Rahal, Sam Hornish or J.R. Hildebrand at an SCCA Club Racing event.
Formula 1000 Showdown: At Road Atlanta, 11 Formula 1000 cars will be featured in their own class during both days of competition. The field will be performing a traditional rolling start on Saturday, while Sunday's race will start with a European-style standing start. Think mini Formula One cars!
Large Fields at Road Atlanta: Large grids will be the name of the game at Road Atlanta. Six of eight race groups will feature more than 30 cars, including everything from traditional Formula Vees to fire-breathing GT-1s. Formula F, on its own, will account for 17 of those entries.
First Crack at Chuckwalla: This will be the maiden voyage that the Majors Tour makes to the membership-driven facility. Racers will be gunning to get their names in the history books by setting new track records for Majors competition, not to mention become the first winner of a Majors race in the circuit's history. Don't miss this opportunity to catch some of the best amateur racers from the West Coast.

Mice Job Todd!
Race monitor seems to be all messed up. several may be missing as many were hand timed. Likely tomorrow morning is all that will matter anyway.
From what I saw..
Buras 144.0
steyn 44.3
Elivan 44.8
the General 45.0
Balacke
Johnathan Goring 45.5
70x( maybe lap two from Elivan as he was dropping on/off race monitor?)
haldeman 45.6
leverone 45.8
Cross 46.3
Looks like track was damp and probably 1-1.5 seconds off? Just guessing?
Wish I was there

Seems like it is always something at these races.. I know it is only club racing etc.. but many are spending lots of time and money to have this stuff pop[ up continuously.. At many majors ( every Atlanta major that I can remember) the scales are not open for q1.. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that no one will be weighed after q1.. People have been and will continue to take advantage of this. We deserve better!
